Job Description

 As part of the Student Recruitment and Retention Center, the Administrative Assistant serves as support for the logistics, data, and tracking of programs of the SRRC. The Administrative Assistant will complete duties such as: tracking program proposal materials and submissions; taking and publishing copies of meeting minutes; archiving records and documents, and performing office management tasks.

 The Administrative Assistant is responsible for processing business documents, and tracking and auditing expenditures. Individuals will gather current data from funding proposals. Individuals will also be required to support the overall functions of the SRRC.

Responsibilities:

 

  • Handling office tasks, such as filing, generating reports, setting up for events, etc.
  • Providing scheduling support for SRRC operations
  • Updating paperwork, maintaining documents, and word processing
  • Performing general office duties and errands
  • Creating, maintaining, and entering information into databases
  • Help maintain the daily functions of the SRRC
  • Preparing documents and reports for meetings
  • Do anything else that plays to your strengths!


Additional Requirements & Qualifications:

 

  • One year of experience working or volunteering in the Student Recruitment and Retention Center (SRRC) is preferred
  • An awareness of and sensitivity to issues specific to underrepresented communities
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Excellent computer skills and experience using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
  • Ability to work independently and cooperatively
  • Ability to pay close attention to detail
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Interpersonal and customer service skills to clearly communicate in person, by email, and over the phone with a wide variety of individuals.
  • Friendly, outgoing, and passionate about supporting program logistics to take the SRRC to the next level!
     

Essential Job Details
 

  • $16.50 hourly rate
  • 12-15 hours per week; flexible schedule; remote work available during the pandemic
  • 3 quarter commitment: Fall, Winter, Spring
  • New staff orientation - TBD
  • SRRC Spring Class In-person Training (Spring Quarter Only - Fridays 2-4 PM PT)
  • Must participate in training with student and career staff throughout Fall Quarter and the academic year.
  • Participate in Monthly In-Services, and weekly staff meetings (during the academic year)
  • Supported & advised by SRRC career staff & Student Directors

The Student Recruitment and Retention Center (SRRC) Grant provides funding for organizations and campus departments planning programs that support and promote outreach and retention to students of historically underrepresented, low-income, or educationally disadvantaged communities.

We invite applications for research projects that examine questions of marginalization, promote social, racial and/or environmental justice, or engage community-based public scholarship.

 

  • Funding may be used for research-related expenses such as: travel, materials, and/or living expenses for research-based writing.
  • Please note that if you are already receiving summer aid, your financial aid package may be affected by this award. We will communicate with recipients if this is the case.

Who can Apply?

  • UC Davis graduate students completing their terminal degrees (MA, MS, PhD and MFA) at any stage in their graduate studies
  • Must graduate no earlier than December 2024

Review and Selection Process
Proposals will be reviewed by the selection committee, and evaluated based on the following criteria:

  1. Significance of research project to issues of social justice & empowerment of historically marginalized communities
  2. Feasibility and appropriateness of proposed plan of summer research or writing
  3. Discussion of how the summer award will support students' retention and success
  4. Potential to contribute to racial and social justice.
